The pound US dollar exchange rate rose to $1.315 today after the UK Markit Services PMI beat forecasts and narrowly avoided contraction by rising from 49 to 50.0. After Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s election victory last month, output in the UK’s most dominant sector improved, giving the pound a boost in the process.
