The GBP/USD exchange rate is currently trading at $1.2091, down around 0.3 percent from this morning’s opening rate. The pound was placed on the defensive against the US dollar on Tuesday as the EU rejected Boris Johnson’s latest call for the Irish backstop to be scrapped.
