Merger and Acquisition Activity in 2013

M&A activity in 2013 has been brisk for a number of reasons. The change in the tax laws triggered a way of tax motivated selling in the 4th quarter of 2012. Much of the middle market deal volume closed in the first quarter and first half of 2013 was in some way influenced by this change. However, the level of M&A activity in 2013 in the middle market has been sustained by more than just tax changes.
